Security and Backup Strategy

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Overview

This document outlines the security and backup strategy for our server environments, focusing on failover and redundancy measures implemented using Azure and other tools. It also details our proactive monitoring and client communication protocols in case of outages.

Backup Strategy

Non-Production (NPR) Stage Environment

  • Frequency: Weekly backups
  • Retention Period: 15 days
  • Method: Snapshots are taken every week to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Restoration: Snapshots can be restored from the available backups as required.

Production Environment

  • Frequency: Daily backups
  • Retention Period: 15 days
  • Method: Snapshots are taken daily to maintain up-to-date data and quick recovery.
  • Restoration: Snapshots can be restored from the available backups as required.

Failover and Redundancy

Azure Redundancy

Failover Mechanism: Azure's built-in failover capabilities ensure minimal downtime and data loss.

Redundancy: Multiple redundant copies of data are maintained across different geographical locations to enhance data availability and reliability.

Proactive Monitoring

Tool: Site 24/7

  • Functionality: Provides alerts for both Non-Production and Production environments.
  • Alert Types: Warnings and critical issues are promptly flagged.
  • Response: The team is notified immediately to take corrective actions.

Outage Communication Protocol

Client Communication

  • Notification: In case of an outage, a new support ticket will be created.
  • Details Provided:
    • Issue Description: Clear explanation of the problem.
    • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Detailed analysis of the cause of the issue.
    • Resolution: Steps taken to resolve the issue.

Conclusion

This security and backup strategy ensures robust protection, quick recovery, and clear communication protocols to handle any issues efficiently. By leveraging tools like Site 24/7 and Azure's redundancy features, we can maintain the high availability and reliability of our server environments.
